CELEBRATION OF IRISH DANCE & MUSIC MAY 23rd AT 3:00PM


The Helena Community Irish Dancers are planning a special 2-hour Celebration of Irish Dance and Celtic Music on Sunday May 23rd, 2010 at the Helena Middle School Auditorium.  The dance program will feature all Helena Community Irish Dancers in a variety of traditional and non-traditional Irish soft shoe and hard shoe dances as well as live music provided by “The Special Session” in their 5th Annual School Show & Fundraiser.

The show begins at 3:00pm and will not only feature a non-stop lineup of thrilling dancing and the spectacular sound of Celtic music, but also a Silent Auction, with a portion of the proceeds going to help build an orphanage in Haiti.

The Helena Community Irish Dancers have been entertaining audiences around Montana for the last 5 years with a variety of athletic, powerful, and graceful choreographies.  Currently, their instructor, Jaymie Lewis, is the only certified Irish Dancing instructor living in the state of Montana.

 

Irish Dance Offerings

Below is a breakdown of our Summer Irish Dance class offerings for 2010. We will be having a Pre-Beginner Irish Dance class for 3-5 year olds offered for June and July that will be $40/mo.  We will also be offering a New Beginner (6+ year old) dancer class that will be $50/mo as well as an Adult Irish Dancing class (anyone high school age or older) for anyone wishing to try Irish Dancing that will be $40/mo.

Tuesdays 3:45-4:30pm Pre-Beginner Irish Dance (for 3-5 year olds)
Tuesdays 4:30-5:30pm Summer Class 1 (current Helena Community Irish Dancers)
Tuesdays 5:30-6:30pm Summer Class 2 (current Helena Community Irish Dancers)
Wednesdays 3:30-4:30pm Summer Class 3 (New Irish Dancers 6+ years old)
Wednesdays 4:30-5:30pm Summer Class 4 (current Helena Community Irish Dancers)
Wednesdays 5:30-6:30pm Adult Irish Dancing Class

Summer Irish Dance TRIAL Classes for Beginners
Monday June 21st-Thursday June 24th and/or Monday July 19th – Thursday July 22nd   We will be offering classes that will run from 10:00am-1:00pm and will be $100 for the week and will include an HCID Black T-Shirt, all dance instruction, a snack, and a different craft project each day.  Before and after care will also be provided from 8:00am-10:00am and from 1:00pm-3:00pm for an additional $8/hour when signed up for and paid for in advance if there is enough interest.  Along with a variety of games we have a variety of fun games and craft projects planned.  If you, or anyone you know, is interested in participating in our Beginner Irish Dancing TRIAL classes please let me know as soon as possible, as slots fill up fast!

Summer Irish Dance Camp for Current Students
I will also be running an all day Irish Dance camp for dancers interested in a summer intensive.  It will be the week of June 14th-17th (Monday-Thursday).  We will have a morning session as well as an afternoon session.  Dancers may come for the whole day, or only join us for part of the day, although I encourage dancers to participate in the whole day as a wealth of new dances, drills, and stretches will be introduced.  Below is a breakdown of the schedule.  Along with learning a variety of new Ceili (group) dances, dancers will also have the opportunity to work on new hard shoe and soft shoe steps, drills, and technique as well as some fun “show” dances.  Two snacks a day will be provided and we’ll also be doing a different craft project each day.  A few of the craft projects will include Potato People, Blarney Stone, Tie-Dye Shirts and Tie-Dye Socks.  Any current HCID dancer is welcome to participate.


Morning Session: 9:00am-noon 
Lunch /Wii Fit Break: 12:00-1:00pm
Afternoon Session: 1:00pm-4:00pm


Cost for the week will be $105 if registered by May 31st or $115 if registered after May 31st.  Dancers participating in our summer session will receive a reduced tuition of $90 for the camp.
